Objective: To provide information/education materials and activities promoting conservation and the wise use of our natural resources to make the public more aware of the services provided by the District.
Goals and Actions
  • Increase public awareness of distract activities and services.
    • Circulation of bi-monthly newsletter and District Annual Report.
    • Give conservation presentations on an as requested basis to civic groups or clubs.
    • Generate news releases, radio broadcasts, and TV interviews on conservation activities.
    • Distribute written material promoting District purpose, programs or goals.
    • Hold District Annual Meeting.
    • Soil and Water Stewardship Week
    • Develop interactive web site.
  • Conduct, sponsor or participate in the following youth conservation and teacher education activities.
    • Provide in-class hands-on conservation presentations and field days in Allen County Schools (prek-12), youth groups, etc.
    • Sponsor Soil and Water Stewardship Posters Contest.
    • Distribute Trees video and tree seedlings to all 3rd grade students in Allen County.
    • Encourage high schools to participate in NW Ohio Envirothon.
    • Publish and distribute 3 teacher newsletters per year and provide teacher workshops on as needed basis.
  • Conduct or participate in programs, meetings and tours for landowners.
    • Host annual rotating Pond and Woodland Clinics with Auglaize Soil & Water Conservation District.
    • Host VIP tour, Air tour and develop tours and field days as need arises.
