OTTAWA
RIVER STREAM ENHANCEMENT PROJECT REMOVALThe Ottawa River Stream Enhancement Project will involve the removal of obstructions including logjams, fallen trees and damaged or leaning trees from the stream. The project is scheduled to begin in the lower reaches of Hog Creek, starting at the Hardin-Allen County line and proceed through Lima and Allen County into Putnam County, ending at the Auglaize River west of Kalida, Ohio. The Little Hog Creek near Lafayetter will also be included in the proposed work. Blockage and debris will be removed with an articulated log skidder using chainsaws and cables to remove the material. All material removed will be piled on the outer tree line for each landowner to dispose of. A meeting with all the affected landowners is anticipated sometime in January with work hopefully started in mid to late summer of 2006. The project will involve over 60 miles of channel, covering a watershed area of almost 240,000 acres and affecting over 100,000 people. Related links: |
