LITTLE CRANBERRY CREEK The Little Cranberry Creek is part of the Cranberry Creek Flood Abatement Plan which began several years ago in Putnam County. Phase I was the cutting and clearing of trees from the Blanchard River near Glandorf, Ohio to State Route 12 near the Columbus Grove swimming pool. Phase II was the reconstruction and widening of the channel from State Route 12 upstream to near Rockport, Ohio. The Little Cranberry Project is Phase III. The original proposal was to reconstruct the channel from the outlet at Cranberry Creek upstream to the upper end of Little Cranberry Creek. This plan was presented to the affected landowners in 2001 and was rejected by the County Commissioners due to cost and lack of support by the local landowners. The project has been scaled back, beginning at Cranberry Creek, but ending at Hook-Waltz Road in Monroe Township, Allen County, Ohio. The new proposal will be one-sided construction with conservation measures included, such as stone riprap along the channel slope, grass seeding, erosion control structures, etc. The project will be presented to the affected landowners on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 at 8:30 AM at the Agricultural Services Building located at the west entrance to the OSU Campus, 3900 Campus Drive, Lima, Ohio.
